SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean has said the government recognises that it does not have a monopoly of good ideas and solutions. He said issues confronting the public service are becoming more complex and the government needs to evolve. Mr Teo, who is also the Minister-in-charge of the Civil Service, was speaking at a ceremony to award Public Service Commission (PSC) scholarships to 72 students on Saturday. They were picked from some 2,000 applicants this year. Mr Teo also told the gathering that over the years, the PSC has looked beyond academic excellence in its selection process for scholarship recipients. He said not all PSC scholars are straight-'A' students.
