Gov’t to ensure fare hikes are reasonable, justifiable #Singapore

PM Lee says that the government does not protect the transport service providers and there is no reason for the government to help transport operators make big profits. If government does not allow for greater competition in this sector, isn't this a means of protecting the transport service providers. We should let market forces work. Quality of service will automatically improve if there is competition. With competition, it does not need a government's watchdog to constantly check and monitor the service quality of the service providers. Transport companies who cannot perform or meet the service standard will fade after some time. Currently, the two service providers operate on routes exclusively for themselves.
