Bullet train in China derails: 32 dead and 200 injured

Two high-speed bullet trains slammed into one another in eastern China yesterday (Jul 23), causing several cars to derail and fall off a bridge. 32 passengers died and nearly 200 were left injured. According to Xinhua news agency, a power outage triggered by a lightning strike caused one train to stall and another to ram into its rear. The crash sent two carriages packed with passenger down the bridge. STOMPer Brian who read about the tragedy online said: "This is so sad. "The second train might not be aware the earlier train has broken down and it did not have enough time to put on the brakes. "My heartfelt condolence goes to the families of the victims."
