SINGAPORE: A total of 111 suspects were nabbed in an islandwide operation led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). During the two-day joint-operation which started on Friday, the officers targeted places such as entertainment outlets and back-alleys in Boon Lay, Bukit Batok, Jurong, Selegie, Geylang, Guillemard Lane, Orchard Road and South Bridge Road. 46 of the suspects were males and 65 were females, between 19 and 60 years old. They are Singaporeans, Cambodians, Thais and Vietnamese. They are suspected of involvement in gang-related activities, employment and vice-related activities. The Singapore Customs also acted against 39 others for possessing contraband cigarettes. The operation involved about 300 officers from the Singapore Police Force, Central Narcotics Bureau and the Singapore Customs.
