An open letter to the #Education Minister from a group of project work #teachers: via @AddThis #PW #Singapore

The key problem here is trust and power. SEAB refuses to trust in the professional capacity of teachers and regulate tightly everything within their scope. Thus they try come up with rules and standards to everything within their scope. Sadly they seem to lack the necessary expertise, knowledge or experience to do so. It pains me to hear that PW teachers and students are also facing such unnecessary difficulties. SEAB has similarly created hell in the Primary education too, especially their assessment standards for language; their arbitrary and constantly changing rubrics for S&T and composition is simply mind boggling. If only they were humble enough to realize that they aren’t experts in all fields and TRUST that teachers are professional enough to implement fair and judicious assessment. They just need to provide general guidelines, not stifle the entire education syste...
