'We've to be where our readers are' - Straits Times

What do you think of naysayers proclaiming that newspapers are dying, and how will The Straits Times' digital strategy counter this? A: It's true some newspapers are dying and some are no longer around. But it's also true that there are many which are thriving - especially in Asia, in particular in India and China. The papers that do well are those which understand their readers and their needs, and have strong identities that make them stand out among the crowd. For The Straits Times, our most important assets are our credibility and our ability to produce quality content. I believe these qualities will be as important, if not more so in the Internet age, when readers have so many alternative sources of news. Why would they want to pay to read us?
