Want to beat the heat? You may need to keep looking - Japan's air-conditioned jackets won't work as well in S'pore

Mr Lee had idea for cool undergarment Former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew once wished someone invented air-conditioned underwear. Describing it to the Asian Wall Street Journal in early 1999, he said that it could be 'a light polyester air-conditioned undergarment, enclosed around the neck, wrists and ankles, and battery-operated'. 'Everyone can then work at his optimum temperature and civilisation can spread across all climates,' he said. And in a 2001 documentary about his life produced by a Hong Kong company, Mr Lee called the air-conditioner the greatest invention of the century.
