S'pore-Malaysia roaming fees to fall (via ST iPhone App)

Malaysia and Singapore are expected to announce the new cellphone roaming charges between both countries in two months AFTER more than two years of negotiations, telcos in Singapore and Malaysia have agreed in principle on a plan to lower roaming charges for travellers to both countries. With the planned cuts expected to slash roaming charges by up to half, the move will result in substantial savings for millions of travellers annually. Malaysia's Information, Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim told an Asean ministerial meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday that the proposals to cut charges, first mooted in 2008, had finally been accepted by telcos in both countries.
