FAS looking at tapping Malaysian market to help lift Singapore football

SINGAPORE: The FAS has suggested Singapore could work more closely with neighbour Malaysia to bring back the support and the passion surrounding the Malaysia Cup in a different form. This is just one of the ways FAS hopes could help lift Singapore football which has seen a decline recently, at both the national team and the S.League levels. However the president of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) stressed that there are no plans to rejoin the Malaysia Cup. FAS president Zainudin Nordin suggested tapping the markets of Singapore and Malaysia. He said: "When you look at the population size of Malaysia and Singapore combined, it's a lot of opportunities....when you combine you have a 35-million market, which we both can look at seriously....
