Book on Singapore's allied health professionals launched:

SINGAPORE: "Many Talents, One Passion - In Praise of Healthcare Heroes", a local publication about Singapore's allied health professionals, was launched on Saturday. It is the first book that profiles Singapore's allied health professionals. The book was launched by Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan at the first Allied Health Professionals Community Day. Some 400 allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists, dieticians and medical social workers, gathered at the event where some innovative designs for healthcare were also showcased. For example, a Nintendo Wii board that can assess the risk of falls among older adults. Dr Pua Yong Hap, a principal physiotherapist at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), said: "We found the Wii board measures of 'standing' balance agree with those measured using a laboratory force plate.
