LONDON - A little past the halfway mark of the season and it looks increasingly as if Manchester City and Arsenal are the two sides best placed to overtake Manchester United and become English Premiership champions, having both won on Saturday, albeit in different circumstances. A nervous City clung on to beat Wolves 4-3 at Eastlands and move to the top of the standings one point ahead of their bitter rivals, although United do have three games in hand over Roberto Mancini's side. Arsenal comfortably dispatched troubled West Ham 3-0 to move a point behind United but the Red Devils have two games in hand over the Gunners. It is well-known that Sir Alex Ferguson's team almost always turn on the power in the second half of the season and the consensus among the experts is that the sides chasing them cannot afford to drop points any more.
