More Singaporeans are singles. Any ideas on how to encourage singles to get hitched? #reachsg

The problem is not only about more people not marrying but also of people marrying later at an age when they are no longer able to have kids. These are the signs of both an advanced and matured society. People can be so engrossed in pursuing careers that they only focus on themselves. But once they are satiated in economic pursuits, they long for company at an older age. Gone are the days when people marry young. I recall one old professor I met long ago spoke bitterly about his marriage which ended after his kids grew up. He said what hope does a young person "who has eaten so few bowls of rice" have of making a marriage last a lifetime with so little experience? One usually counts on either family or society to help marriage relationships work. Maybe govt policies could be written to help teach our children the value of family and marriages in schools.
