A US boy, 10, stabbed his mother in the back after they argued about chores, police said

WEST VALLEY CITY (Utah) - POLICE say a 10-year-old boy stabbed his mom in the back following a confrontation about household chores. Police Sergeant Mike Powell tells The Associated Press the 35-year-old mother was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital for stitches after the 7am Tuesday confrontation. Sgt Powell says the woman argued with the boy, then turned her back before the child wounded her with a small kitchen paring knife. A younger sibling was also in the home and wasn't hurt. Police contacted the state Division of Child and Family Services, and Sgt Powell says the boy has been placed in the care of other family members. Sgt Powell says the Salt Lake County district attorney will decide whether to prosecute the boy in juvenile court. -- AP
