SAF boosts capabilities with 6 Seahawk helicopters
SINGAPORE : The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has boosted capabilities in its air-sea operations with six state-of-the-art naval helicopters. The Sikorsky S-70B Seahawk helicopters were inaugurated into the SAF's first naval helicopter squadron - better known as the "123 squadron" on Tuesday afternoon. Second Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, officiated the ceremony at the Sembawang Airbase. The S-70B Seahawk is said to be the most advanced naval helicopter of its class, with state-of-the-art avionics and sensors. The SAF had earlier acquired the six Sikorsky S-70B Seahawk naval helicopters. All six naval helicopters returned to Singapore last year after a one-year deployment in San Diego, USA, with the RSAF's Peace Triton detachment.
