Some 2.7 million visitors went to National Heritage Board museums last year, 100,000 fewer than the record high of 2.8 million in 2009. The NHB, a statutory board to promote heritage and culture, runs seven museums, including the Singapore Art Museum and Singapore Philatelic Museum. The dip in visitorship happened despite a string of blockbuster exhibitions, including Pompeii: Life In A Roman Town at the National Museum of Singapore, which showed what life was like there before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius; and Ramayana Revisited: A Tale Of Love & Adventure at the Peranakan Museum...
