Caltex, Esso and Shell raise pump prices (via ST iPhone App)

Caltex has increased pump prices of all grades of petrol and diesel by $0.04 per litre. -- PHOTO: CHEVRON OIL companies Caltex, Esso and Shell upped pump prices on Tuesday by three to four cents a litre, sending all but the cheapest petrol across the $2-a-litre mark. A litre of 98-, 95- and 92-octane petrol is now $2.08, $2.007 and $1.947 respectively, while diesel is $1.493 a litre. The ultra-premium Shell V-Power 98 and its competitor, Caltex Platinum 98, are $2.289 and $2.135 a litre respectively. These are prices before discounts offered at stations. It was the first hike of the year, following several in the second half of last year, as the recovering global economy and fast-growing Asian economies fuelled the rise in oil prices.
