SINGAPORE: Singapore and Thailand have concluded their 10th Civil Service Exchange Programme with a range of initiatives planned to address long-term demographic challenges. To this end, both sides have launched an inter-ministry project on "Long Term Care for the Elderly". The initiative involves Thailand's Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Labour, and Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, as well as Singapore's Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Ministry of Manpower. This will involve study visits to learn about geriatric care in hospitals, care-giver training and even efforts to keep older workers employed. In the area of education, it was agreed that Singapore's Institute of Technical Education will host a visit by Thailand's Labour Ministry to study training in skills competition and promotion for youths.
