A British MP has apologised to fellow MPs after he was interrupted in the middle of a speech by his own musical tie.

LONDON - A BRITISH lawmaker has apologised to fellow MPs after he was interrupted in the middle of a speech by his own musical tie. Nadhim Zahawi, a member of the ruling Conservative party, was taking part in a House of Commons debate late on Wednesday when his red tie emitted a tinny tune that was amplified by a microphone hanging above his head. As MPs looked around the chamber to find the source of the noise, Mr Zahawi realised it was coming from his tie, which he promptly switched off. 'I apologise,' he said. 'It is my tie to support the campaign against bowel cancer that was making that noise. It is a musical tie.' Deputy Speaker Dawn Primarolo called for order, saying: 'Perhaps next time the honourable gentleman will be more selective in the ties he wears in the chamber and then we won't need the musical accompaniment.'
