China, US pledge to strengthen cooperation

BEIJING : Chinese President Hu Jintao concludes his visit to the US on Friday. Both he and US President Barack Obama have pledged to seek common ground, strengthen cooperation, and address differences through dialogue. Observers said it is a sign that Sino-US ties are maturing. Chinese President Hu Jintao was given a warm reception by President Obama. The state dinner is an honour he was denied when he last visited the US, under former President George Bush in 2005. Observers said signs indicate that the leaders of the world's two largest economies are getting along with increasing ease. President Hu said: ""The purpose of my visit is to increase mutual trust, enhance friendship, deepen cooperation and advance a positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-US relationship for the 21st century."
