Prices of food items should stabilise: PM Lee

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expects food prices to stabilise in the next few months. Speaking at a community event in Teck Ghee on Sunday, he said the recent price increases were due to weather woes in countries such as China and Australia. At another community event in Marine Parade, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong also spoke on rising prices and how it may feature in the coming Budget. Lunar New Year goodies like mandarin oranges are costing more this festive season. They reflect the general trend of increasing food prices. But Senior Minister Goh said help should be on the way when the government reveals its Budget next month. He said: "I would expect the Finance Minister to come up with some ways to help lower the cost of living for Singaporeans.
