Excluding accommodation costs, the consumer price index (CPI) for 2010 would have grown by 3.3 per cent. The cost of transport saw the largest increase in 2010, up 10.3 per cent compared to 2009, reflecting higher prices of cars and petrol. Housing cost climbed by 2.0 per cent following higher electricity tariffs and accommodation costs. With more expensive prepared meals, vegetables, fresh seafood, rice and other cereals, chilled meat, as well as milk products, food prices rose by 1.4 per cent.
