A Straits Times check with 34 hawkers last Thursday found that 20 would not do so, citing higher costs. The pledges are set to expire this month and next month. Similarly, the Food Junction chain of eateries, as well as the president of the Bedok North 216 Food Centre and Market Hawkers Association, said they are also likely to give renewal a miss for the same reason.
