[CNA] New initiatives for Tampines West residents

SINGAPORE: An inter-ministry group, which is looking at the tightening of laws to manage at-risk youths, is likely to announce its plans in July or August. The group - National Committee on Youth Guidance and Rehabilitation (NYGR) - involves the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports as well as the Ministry of Education. Minister of State for Education and Home Affairs, Masagos Zulkifli, heads the NYGR. He said NYGR "is looking at specifically for now, the laws that we probably need to tighten, the calibration that we need to make from the beginning when a child transgresses to the time when he is old enough to be responsible for what he has done."
