S'pore-made PS Vita games in the works: By Shaun Tan GAMERS can expect home-grown titles for Sony's upcoming Pla...

GAMERS can expect home-grown titles for Sony's upcoming PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) handheld console in the near future. Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Sony Computer Entertainment Asia yesterday said that Singapore game-development start-ups, under the school's $4-million PlayStation game- resource centre, can now gain access to tools to make games for the PS Vita. The new gadget is the successor to Sony's popular PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld console, and is expected to be released next year. An NYP spokesman said PlayStation development software under the centre generally incurs a "minimal cost" for the firms. This means savings on licensing fees to use the tools. Four companies under the centre - Red Hare Studios, Dark Potato Studios, SBA Mobile Solutions and Gamma Games - have already received test versions of the software.
