S'pore, Australia ink deal to further scientific collaboration: SINGAPORE: Singapore and Australia have signed a...

SINGAPORE: Singapore and Australia have signed a deal to promote exchange between the two countries in health and medical research. The deal was signed between Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and Australia's National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), both countries have agreed to commit a total of S$4.5 million to a joint grant call over the next three years. The grant will fund collaborative research projects between groups in Singapore and Australia, in areas such as emerging infectious diseases, regenerative medicine, non-communicable diseases, bioinformatics and nanotechnology. A*STAR and NHMRC will also co-organise scientific symposia to help establish research collaborations. The first symposium is scheduled to take place in Australia next year.
