SINGAPORE : Retail investors in Singapore are more bullish on the outlook for the local stock market in the next six months than their Hong Kong counterparts. That is according to a JPMorgan Investor Confidence survey, which showed that 80 per cent of the respondents expect the Straits Times Index (STI) to rise in the next six months. Meanwhile, 66 per cent of Singapore investors also expect their personal portfolios to appreciate. The STI remains flat year-to-date as investor confidence has been shaken by the continuing macroeconomic uncertainty in Europe. But in the next six months, retail investors are betting things will get better. The JPMorgan survey found that 63 per cent of investors expect the economic environment to improve, while 67 per cent say the investment environment will be better.
