6-day waiting time for fibre broadband installation only applies to 1st 2,400 orders a week, says IDA

Half of delays due to building owners: IDA MORE than 60 per cent of the businesses that signed up for fibre broadband in the first half of this year faced delays in service activation by OpenNet. Only 38 per cent of them got connections within the stipulated two weeks of signing up for the service. The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) said yesterday that commercial building owners were behind 50 per cent of all delays. OpenNet was responsible for 25 per cent of the delays, with the rest due to customers and Internet service providers. A common issue faced was the long approval process needed for OpenNet to access a building's facilities to install a fibre termination point and activate the broadband service. There had also been disagreements over extra charges that building owners demand for providing security services to gain access to telecommunications rooms. The ID...
