Sponsorship pie growth is good news

SINGAPORE - Sports sponsorship is increasingly big business here these days. As Singapore's top athletes win more international prizes and the country hosts a lengthening list of world-class events, the number of sponsors have increased, and the battle to attract more such support has intensified among many of the 63 national sports associations (NSA) in Singapore. Over the last 12 months, the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) have signed sponsorship deals worth more than $2 million. This morning, Football Association of Singapore (FAS) president Zainudin Nordin will unveil a major new sponsor in the S-League. But, while NSAs like table tennis and bowling seem to be able to woo backers, football clubs in the S-League struggle to obtain a similar response.
