Breaking: One dead, three injured at French nuclear site explosion. No leak, said nuclear watchdog

PARIS - One person was killed and three injured in an explosion at the nuclear site of Marcoule in southern France, France's ASN nuclear watchdog said today, but there was no leak of radioactive material. Marcoule is a major site involved with the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, it produces MOX fuel, which recycles plutonium from nuclear weapons, but does not include reactors. The explosion took place near a furnace, an ASN spokesperson told Reuters. The plant is located in the Gard department in Languedoc-Roussillon region, near France's Mediterranean coast. France - the world's most nuclear-reliant country - is carrying out stress tests on its 58 nuclear reactors in the aftermath of the Fukushima disaster in Japan. AGENCIES
