Movie Review: The Green Hornet

CAN Tinseltown's resident chubby but lovable stoner Seth Rogen be a superhero? It's nearly impossible to wrap one's mind around such an crazy idea, let alone the fact that surreal auteur Michel Gondry was going to direct him as one of the comic world's oldest and overlooked franchise heroes, The Green Hornet. That and the fact that Taiwanese megastar Jay Chou was going to play his sidekick. Strangely, it's precisely this odd combination that results in The Green Hornet being not just another superhero movie. Truth be told, it's not great - but it's not as bad as others claim it to be either. This update of the 1960s TV show starring Van Williams and Bruce Lee (which was also a long-running radio show in the 1930s) finds Rogen (who's also the film's co-writer and executive producer) as Britt Reid, a wealthy playboy man-child who changes his ways after his newspaper magnate ...
