Special programme planned to get M'sia cops in shape

TELUK INTAN - THE mission to get overweight policemen back into shape is a directive from the top cop to all police contingents in the country. Perak deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zakaria Yusof said the move to get the pot-bellied policemen to lose weight follows an order from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Ismail Omar. The IGP wants all overweight policemen to go on diet and increase their physical fitness, he said. 'Although the percentage of overweight policemen is small, special activities have been drawn up to whip the pot-bellied men-in-blue into shape. 'Every Tuesday, we have aerobics sessions. There are also weekly march-past sessions,' he said, adding that the get-fit programme had already commenced.
