SINGAPORE : The manufacturing business climate in Singapore is expected to remain positive in the six months to June this year, according to the latest business expectations survey conducted by the Economic Development Board. It showed a weighted 27 per cent of manufacturers expecting business conditions to improve, while a weighted 7 per cent foresee deterioration. Although the positive business sentiment is broad based, the transport engineering cluster emerged the most upbeat with a net weighted balance of 55 per cent of firms expecting the business situation to improve. Within the cluster, the marine and offshore engineering segment expects more orders as the price of crude oil rises. Meanwhile, the aerospace segment foresees a higher level of maintenance, repair and overhaul activity in anticipation of a recovery in the aviation industry. The electronics cluster is th...
