More flights cancelled as volcano spews ash - TODAYonline

JAKARTA - Flights to and from Indonesia's holiday island of Bali were disrupted for a second day on Friday as a volcano on the nearby Java island spewed ash into the atmosphere. Volcanologists said a full scale eruption of the 2,300-metre Mount Bromo was not imminent, although a no-go zone of 2km had been set up from the crater. Several international flights were cancelled - including those operated by JetStar, Virgin Blue, Cathay Pacific and ValuAir. Singapore Airlines cancelled SQ 946, which was originally scheduled to leave Singapore at 4.30pm, and SQ 947, which was scheduled to leave Denpasar at 8.05pm. Two flights were also delayed: SQ 948, which was scheduled to leave Singapore at 6.50pm on Friday was rescheduled for 8.30am the next day.
