Ride along the new Pasir Ris Town cycling path

SINGAPORE: Cyclists and pedestrians in Pasir Ris Town where 70 per cent of its population are cyclists according to Citizens' Consultative Committee for Pasir Ris West can expect a safer cycling environment as plans to create a cycling network in the town take shape. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has completed a 1.1-kilometre stretch of cycling path, along Pasir Ris Drive 3, to connect cyclists to and from their homes to the Pasir Ris MRT station and bus interchange. The LTA said construction of the cycling paths in the town started in mid-July 2011. Deputy Prime Minister and MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Teo Chee Hean launched the new stretch of the cycling path on Sunday. He said: "Pasir Ris is a town famous for cycling and cyclists and this marks a good step forward in shaping a safe cycling culture in our estate where cyclists and pedestrians can co-exist."
