MM Lee should clarify comments on Islam: Jamiyah

SINGAPORE: Jamiyah, a member of the Inter-Religious Organisation, has asked for Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to shed more light on the comments he had made in his latest book that Islam is a difficult religion to integrate. In a statement, Jamiyah said that it would be good for Mr Lee to shed more light on the issue so that they can better understand his reasons. It added that the close relationship between Buddhist, Christian, Taoist, Hindu and other faith organisations in Singapore reinforces the point that Muslims are not myopic in outlook or hold religiously extreme views. It said that Muslims are capable of intermingling with people of different religions including those without religion.
