Two upcoming musical tributes to Nirvana, to coincide with 20th anniv re-release of their album Nevermind
To coincide with the long-awaited 20th anniversary re-release of Nirvana's classic 1991 album Nevermind, two musical tributes to the group fronted by late singer Kurt Cobain are keeping "teen spirit" burning in Singapore. Organised by National University of Singapore (NUS) undergraduates, Live Lounge Presents: Smells Like Nirvana will be held at the Yusof Ishak House at NUS on Sept 29. It will feature homegrown bands like Amnesia Haze, The Pinholes and punk rockers Plain Sunset doing a mix of original tunes and Nirvana favourites. And can you imagine a reggae version of Smells Like Teen Spirit? Or Come As You Are with cool jazz tones? That's what you can to expect on Oct 4 at Timbre, which will be hosting Neh’mind, also a night of Nirvana interpretations by local bands like Fat Skunks, Goodfellas, Lunarin, Michaela Therese and The Lard Brothers.
