Property agents have been given until next June to pass the Real Estate Salesperson examination

SINGAPORE - Property agents who are still struggling to pass the Real Estate Salesperson (RES) examination will have more breathing space, as the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) has extended the December deadline to June next year. Announcing the extension yesterday, the CEA said property agents who have not passed the RES exam by then will see their registration lapse. The same will apply to key executive officers, practising directors and partners who are required to pass the exam. Ms Purnima Shantilal, director (licensing and investigation) of CEA, said: "CEA is mindful that some salespersons may need more time to pass the RES exam. The extension will thus help them to better prepare for the examination. CEA will work with the estate agents closely to ensure that their salespersons take the examination by the deadline."
