Increased representation of women in mosque leadership was among the key recommendations brought up at the first Muslim Women's Seminar, organised by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) on Sunday. More than 500 women attended the seminar. The number of women in mosque management boards (MMB) has already almost doubled in the past decade. In 2000, only 63 women were serving on MMB. The number grew to 111 last year (2010). Women now comprise 15 per cent of MMB members, and hold key roles in their executive committees, ...
