Really? Why is the birth rate still so low? Young Singaporeans clueless about unprotected sex: Survey

SINGAPORE - A global survey found that one-third of respondents here have erroneous information about contraception. Usage of contraception is also found to be low here: Eight in 10 respondents did not use a contraception while having sex with a new partner, with about a quarter of these respondents saying that this is because their partner prefers not to have contraception. The study was conducted by pharmaceutical company Bayer Healthcare and covered nine countries and interviewed young adults between 20 and 35. Some 200 Singaporeans took part in the study. The study also found that among Singapore respondents, the Internet was the most common source of misinformation on contraception, followed by friends and religious leaders. According to the survey, a quarter of Singapore respondents believe myths about contraception. For instance, 34 per cent believe penis withdrawal...
