Singapore set to bid for 2015 SEA Games

SINGAPORE: Singapore is likely to bid for the 2015 SEA Games, pending the Cabinet's approval of the budget. The likely venue will be the Sports Hub, currently under construction. This was disclosed to the media by SNOC Secretary General Chris Chan on Monday on the sidelines of a sports event where Singaporean Ng Ser Miang was given a Distinguished Service Award from the United States Sports Academy. Mr Ng was the chairman of the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and is also the vice-president of the International Olympic Committee. Singapore was supposed to host the 2013 SEA Games, but opted out because of the delay in the completion of the Sports Hub. Major-General (NS) Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports toured the facility on Monday.
