No time for maths? Sacrifice Physical Education then. #SGedu

MRS Carrie Yousoof is spot-on ("Rid schools of exam syndrome"; last Saturday). My elder son, who is taking his Primary School Leaving Examination this year, has told me many times that Physical Education sessions are often replaced by mathematics or English lessons. Education is not about getting the best academic results; it is about a holistic upbringing of our next generation, and cultivating a balanced life where academic or work performance, physical health, moral values and social skills are equally important. The definition of education is often skewed towards academic performance. I hope the Education Ministry will maintain a balance in its education policy and have a way to enforce it.
