Intellectual property agencies sign MOU

SINGAPORE: The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a framework for collaboration. It sets up a joint dispute resolution procedure to facilitate the mediation of intellectual property disputes filed with IPOS. The MOU was signed by the Chief Executive of IPOS, Brigadier-General Tan Yih San and Director-General of WIPO Dr Francis Gurry on the sidelines of the WIPO General Assembly in Geneva on Wednesday. With this MOU, disputes involving ownership and validity of intellectual property rights applied for in Singapore can be resolved through mediation under the WIPO rules, administered by the WIPO Centre Office in Singapore.
