SINGAPORE: Some 800,000 people have visited the River Hongbao at The [email protected] Bay in five days. That's the total number of visitors the event attracted over nine days last year. The carnival kicked off on 1 February and will last till 13 February. The River Hongbao was started 25 years ago for the Lunar New Year celebrations, and this year's event is the biggest yet. Among the event's highlights are cultural performances from China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia. Visitors can also buy handicraft and taste delicacies from Nanjing, China. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who was at the carnival on Saturday, said he was glad to see non-Chinese visitors in the crowd as well.
