Even monitor lizards need hugs too
varanus_salvator on Fri, 08/30/2013 - 15:19 These are NOT Komodo dragons, which are found only on some small islands in Indonesia. The Komodo dragon is the largest of the monitor lizard family, but the monitor lizard species that is commonly seen in Singapore, including the Jurong Lake area, is the Malayan water monitor. And these lizards are not "hugging". These are actually males fighting to assert their dominance; the one that manages to wrestle and pin down its opponent wins. It's a behaviour seen in all monitor lizard species.
