More Singaporeans choosing staycations over holidays abroad

SINGAPORE: This year-end, more Singaporeans are choosing staycations over holidays abroad. A check with several hotels here show that figures are up by between 20 and 30 per cent, compared to the same period last year. For once, 36-year-old Aaron Chiew decided to spend his holiday right at home. The IT professional has travelled to places such as Thailand, Rome and Hong Kong with his daughter since she was a baby. Amelia is now two, and the Chiews said travelling with a toddler can be quite challenging. Mr Chiew said: "We have to do things around her schedule so you don't get much time for yourself. You don't get to watch any musicals, plays. There's no quietness." To celebrate his wife's birthday, Mr Chiew packed his family off to Marina Bay Sands.
