(TTR) Slower growth means fewer job opportunities?

I am somewhat unsettled by what our new MND Minister said when he gave a talk at the Sembawang GRC Youth Executive Committee’s policy forum on 29 May 2011. He was addressing the housing mess we are in today, created by his predecessor, MBT, planning to build “tens of thousands” of 1 room/2 rooms rental flats to appease the disgruntlement of the home seeking populace. These rental flats are meant for people whose household income falls between S$800/= per month to S$1,500/= per month, people in abject poverty. By inference are we having “tens of thousands” of people living in abject poverty? Howsoever, in the same forum he defended the government’s FT policy in the mass influx of foreigners just to drive up economic growth & GDP.
