Is Singapore set to reignite the property market? Not quite

Singapore has one of the highest rates of home ownership in the world, with 90 percent of people owning their apartment or house. It’s also a popular investment destination for neighboring Indonesia and Malaysia, not to mention China. The government began imposing cooling measures as speculative buying surged, from home and abroad, backed by the availability of cheap money as a result of low interest rates and global central bank monetary easing. From mid-2009 to the 2013 peak, home prices jumped more than 60 percent.
