End for Brexit deal? European judges create MINEFIELD of trade conditions in shock ruling

The European Court of Justice will today determine just who has the authority to ratify a 2014 trade deal between the bloc and Singapore: the European Commission or the EU’s dozens of national and regional parliaments. Theresa May will be crossing her fingers Singapore, a non-European Union member state with a booming economy, will be allowed to sign off on the deal without criss-crossing Europe gaining the approvals of different meddling authorities. This would pave the way for a similar deal for the UK, with the approval of the Commission itself proving the only real barrier in Mrs May’s path.
