Netball: Singapore targets top-12 finish at World Netball Championships

SINGAPORE: 16 teams, one aim - to win the World Netball Championships which kicks off on Sunday. While Australia and New Zealand are favourites, Jamaica and England hope to change all that. Hosts Singapore is also looking for a good finish. Singapore is aiming for a top-12 finish in the 16-nation competition. Preparations have been intensive, with the team even going on a tour of Africa to get used to the kind of opponents they will be taking on. Singapore in in Pool C along with Jamaica, South Africa and Botswana. And their best bet to attain their target, is to go for a win against Botswana in their opening game on Sunday. Kate Carpenter, coach of the Singapore team, said: "We are ranked 19th and Botswana are ranked 17th, so it will probably be the most competitive game.
