SINGAPORE: The Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) which opened Monday attracted the biggest-ever turnout of water professionals since it started four years ago. More than 600 companies are being represented at the Water Expo exhibition, up from 70 per cent in 2008. Organisers said this is an indication of the growing importance of the global water industry and added the SIWW also establishes Singapore's position as a water hub. The focus this year is on innovation and Research & Development in water solutions. Besides showcasing local breakthroughs in water technology, organisers also hope to match the developers of these technology to venture capitalists through the first-ever TechXchange networking platform. Separately, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has also launched its new guidelines for drinking water quality at the SIWW.
